REVIT

Clipping | LimitBox 3Point

This tool is used to define a 3D box, beyond which points are not displayed or processed, based on three specified points.

Note: The limit box does not delete the points. It merely reduces the size and complexity of point clouds for viewing and processing.

Using the Tool

To define and place a limit box with 3 points, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the LimitBox 3Point icon in the Clipping panel.

  2. Following prompts, sequentially enter three points to define a box.

    1. Using the snapping function, select a point representing one corner (the base) of the desired 3D limit box.

    2. Position the crosshair at the point representing the opposite corner of the desired limit box and click it, the resulting rectangle is projected. If you are satisfied with the picks, click the second time on the same location to accept the base and move on to picking the third point.

    3. Position the crosshair and select a point to determine the height of the box. Points outside the boundaries of the box are hidden from view.

Notes:

  • If the current view is in Top Down (Plan View), a 3-point limit box will default to the limit box with levels.

  • Use the Clipping Manager command to turn on or off any clipping records, or use the Reset Clip command to turn off all clipping records of the active clipping group.
