CloudWorx Tutorial | Import Point Cloud (E57/LAS/PTX)
Overview
This CloudWorx Tutorial is intended for users who have access to the CloudWorx plugin software release 2024.1.0 or newer. Please follow the simple steps below for importing point clouds as industry-standard E57, LAS, or PTX formats. As part of the import process the original point cloud and its associated metadata will be converted to an LGSx project file for improved performance as well as reduced file size.
CloudWorx Pro or Ultimate license key is required for the new Import Point Cloud feature
Importing Point Cloud (E57/LAS/PTX)
Select a local point cloud dataset. Click on the new Import Point Cloud ( ) icon as depicted below:
Browse to a local point cloud dataset. Click on the … to navigate to the file or select one of the recent Point Source project files.
CWIMPORTPTX command can also be utilized in applications in which the command line is supported.
Select the file to import and click Open.
Wait until the OK button is active (conversion is in progress). Once active, click OK to start the rendering of the converted point cloud in the active workspace.
This process might take some time depending on the size of the original point cloud. A new file with the same file name of the original file and an .lgsx extension will be created and stored in the same folder.
Analyze new point cloud (after conversion to LGSx)
After the point cloud is completely rendered, you may start working with any of the available CloudWorx Toolsets.
