Connect GeoCloud to your integration partner's application

If you work with a third-party web application that embeds Hexagon GeoCloud, your company admin can now connect it to your GeoCloud account directly. Create an API user, and GeoCloud gives you a client ID and client secret to enter in that application. The application then works with your GeoCloud data under the API user's own permissions, without using a person's login. You no longer need to ask Hexagon to create these credentials for you.

API users are for integration partners. API users are intended only for third-party web applications that embed Hexagon GeoCloud.

Create an API user

On the User management page of your company account, click Create API user and agree to the security notice. Enter a name and an expiration date up to one year ahead. You can also add an email address for notifications, such as being added to a project. When you click Create, GeoCloud shows the client ID and client secret. Copy them with Copy ID and Copy key. The client secret is shown only once, so store it somewhere safe.

Manage access like any other user

An API user appears in your user list marked API User. Give it only the company role, projects and project roles it needs. Delete it when you no longer need it, and its access ends immediately. A clock icon shows when its credentials expire: it turns orange 30 days before the expiration date and red once they have expired.

Good to know

  • Only company admins can create API users.

  • Credentials can't be renewed. Before they expire, create a new API user and enter the new credentials in your integration partner's application.

  • When the credentials expire, the API user stays in your user list until you delete it, but it can no longer sign in.

  • Uploads, downloads and processing done by an API user count towards your subscription quota, as they do for any other user.

For step-by-step instructions, see API user.

Bug fixes

  • Previously, when you created a GeoTag in Panorama mode on a georeferenced asset, the GeoTags tray stayed in creation mode and asked you to place another GeoTag, instead of showing the one you had just created. The tray now returns to your GeoTags list, with your new GeoTag in it.
