This command splits a mesh according to one or several polylines or a set of contours.
Requirements
Select a mesh and one or more polylines, or a set of polylines, before launching the command.
If you have open polylines, optionally check Close polylines.
If Project polylines is checked, the polylines will be projected on the mesh (shortest distance).
The Cut Mesh command splits a mesh into separate parts using one or more polylines that define the cutting contours.
When a cutting contour crosses existing triangles, the triangles are subdivided to create new edges and vertices along the contour.
Unlike simply deleting triangles, Cut Mesh allows you to define the separation boundary more precisely, independently of the existing triangle edges; useful for extracting a specific area, cutting out a complex mesh, creating precise boundaries, preparing data for further processing, etc.
Note
Cutting a mesh with polyline(s) may impact its geometry and topology:
increase in the number of triangles, as intersections may require additional vertices
modification of the triangles along the cutting path
creation of small disconnected mesh objects
loss or change of image associations on a textured mesh
