IMS Orbit

Function

Orbit moves the scene around the rotation point that is defined by the cursor position at the initial left click. The orientation of the scene will be changed without changing the perceived distance from it. During the orbit viewing, a user can zoom in/out and the camera will always move towards or away from the target.

Procedure

Press and hold the left mouse button to establish an orbit point and drag the mouse immediately after to orbit around that point in three dimensions. Releasing the left mouse button deselects the rotation point and every left click defines a new rotation point. A globe will be displayed with its center indicating the location of the orbit point.

Press ESC to end the Orbit viewing.

*Note: IMS_ORBIT is the default behavior when a user holds Shift while clicking and drag the middle mouse button (wheel) to orbit the drawing. In this case, the location of the cursor at the click of the middle mouse button defines the rotation point. The mouse returns to the normal, default behavior when the shift/middle mouse button are released.
