Check For Updates
Function
This command checks online for any available updates to your software, via your computer's internet connection.
Procedure
When you run this command, the following checks will occur:
The updater checks to see what version of the program is currently installed, and what version of the program is currently available for download.
If you are already running the most recent version, then it will notify you that your software is up to date.
If an update is available, then it proceeds to the next check.
If an update is available, then the updater checks to see what version of the program your USB License Key is currently activated for.
If your USB Key will run the updated version, then it will notify you that an update is available and it will allow you to download and install the update.
If your USB Key will not run the updated version, then it proceeds to the next check.
If an update is available but your USB Key will not run it, then the updater checks the expiry date of your Maintenance Subscription and Support Plan to see if your USB License Key can be updated to run the new version.
If your USB Key's maintenance subscription plan is current as of the date the update became available, then the updater will notify you that you must use the USB License Manager application to update your key before allowing you to download and install the update.
If your USB Key's maintenance subscription plan has expired as of the date the update became available, then the updater will notify you that you must contact Leica Geosystems to renew your maintenance subscription plan then use the USB License Manager application to update your key before allowing you to download and install the update.
Firewall Information
The update program is called Updater.exe, and it does its checking over TCP port 80. Your firewall may notify you when the updater attempts to access the internet, please select Permit Always or Allow Always if prompted.
