The Control Points workflow supports the georeferencing and verification of point cloud data using measured control points. It provides a streamlined process for defining, managing, and validating control points throughout a project.
Defining Control Points
There are several ways to add control points in a project:

Import control points from supported external file formats.

Define control points directly within PinPoint.
The workflow supports multiple target types, including:

Leica targets

Natural targets

3D spherical targets
Working with Leica Targets
Leica targets are automatically detected in project imagery and matched to their corresponding control points across the entire point cloud. If a target is assigned incorrectly or requires review, observations can be manually reassigned to the appropriate control point.
Working with Natural Targets
Natural targets are arbitrary point features with no physical targets. These targets can be defined using a dedicated 3D image viewer, allowing observations to be selected directly from project imagery. Once selected, natural target positions can be refined against neighbouring candidates in image space.
Managing Control Points
Control points can be easily managed using:

Drag-and-drop functionality for reordering

Multi-selection for bulk operations
After adjustment, residual values are calculated and displayed for each control point. Residuals indicate the difference between measured and computed positions.
