The command splits the tank mesh in 3 meshes: - the roof - the shell - the bottom plate The lines that limit the shell and other meshes from the shell are also given as result of this command. > [!TIP] > ### Requirements > > To enter the command, a tank project must already exist. If several projects exist, first select the corresponding project in which you want to work. > [!WARNING] > ### Notes > > If the automatic computation fails it is possible to use other tools. For example: > > - It is possible to draw lines that delineate the shell from the roof and the bottom plate using [Single Breaking Line](/v1/docs/cyclone-3dr-singlebreakinglinec) command (in the Polyline menu), and then run the Separate Shell command with those selected lines. > - It is also possible to segregate the different parts with the Meshing \ Constraint Mesh command (in the Mesh menu). > [!TIP] > ### Tips & Tricks > > The line that represents the circumference of the bottom plate can be selected and used to launch [Differential Settlements](/v1/docs/cyclone-3dr-differentialsettlementsc) command. Afterwards, points will be extracted from this line. ![separate shell.jpg](https://cdn.document360.io/820e11db-8ed5-45ae-ac86-f6b77dcb2aa7/Images/Documentation/separate%20shell.jpg) Fig. example
