The Points here are the **measured** objects for the inspection. ## List of reference objects available - [Cloud](/v1/docs/cyclone-3dr-vscloud) - Mesh - CAD Surface - Surfacic Geometry - BIM Object ## Description of the command 1. The dialog box asks [**which object should be colored**](/v1/docs/cyclone-3dr-howtochoosetheobjecttocolor). In the case Point vs Cloud, you can only colored the measured points, refer to [vs Cloud](/v1/docs/cyclone-3dr-vscloud). 2. **Custom resolution**: Only available if colors are applied on an object other than a cloud. This option allows to choose the resolution of the inspection. This option is mandatory when comparing to a BIM object. 3. **Force projection direction**: If you choose not to force the direction, the software will search the closest point in 3D, else you have to enter a [direction](/v1/docs/cyclone-3dr-definenormaldirection) for the inspection. 4. **Both sides**: Only available if the direction is forced. 5. **Max distance**: Enter the threshold distance over which the points are considered as too far away. These points will not be used for the color map. A default value can be computed with the **Restore default value** button. 6. **Keep only relevant points**: This option allows to ignore points whose projections are on the free edges. Only available if the reference object is an opened surface. 7. **Detailed report:** This option makes available a table, called **Inspected points table**, which can be added to the report template. Only available if the number of points is lower than 5001. 8. Validate the command with **OK**, or, close the dialog box with **Cancel**. Once the color mapping is computed, a special object is created with distance and color information. You can edit the colors by clicking on **Edit color**. The command [Edit Colors](/v1/docs/cyclone-3dr-editgradientc) is launched. > [!WARNING] > Note   > > With a high **Custom resolution**, the size of the resulting inspection can dramatically increase.
