Offset

This command makes an offset of the selected polylines, meshes or geometric shapes. The behavior and the content of the command differ depending on the type of objects.

Requirements

Select the object(s) and launch the command. All objects must have the same type: only meshes, only polylines or only geometric shapes.

Geometric feature

The geometric feature will be modified:

  • Line: it extends both extremities.

  • Circle: it extends the diameter.

  • Round Slot: it extends the width and the length.

  • Square Slot: it extends the width and the length.

  • Plane: it creates a parallel plane.

  • Cylinder: it extends the diameter.

  • Sphere: it extends the diameter.

  • Cone: it extends the diameter of base and top circles.

  1. Choose the offset distance to apply to the input object(s).

  2. Use the button   to change the direction, if needed. If the distance is invalid regarding the shape, an error message is displayed.

Polyline

The offset of a polyline is computed in a given direction.

  1. Choose the offset distance to apply to the input object(s).

  2. Enter the Direction of the normal of the offset (offset plane). Change the side if needed with the button .

Mesh

  1. Choose the offset distance to apply at the input object(s).

  2. Use the button  to change the direction, if needed.

  3. Unbuckle auto-intersections of continuous surfaces removes the potential buckles created by the parallel mesh within the curvature radii.

  4. Preview to see the result of the command.
