3D mouse

It is possible to use a 3D mouse from 3DConnexion. Basically a 3D mouse is used in addition to your traditional mouse and allows you to easily handle objects in the 3D scene. A 3D mouse has 6 degrees of freedom (3 rotations and 3 translations) that can be used simultaneously and give you the feeling of handling 3D objects as if they were in your own hand.

Move the model left and right (horizontal pan)

Zoom in and out

Move the model up and down (vertical pan)

Rotate backwards/forwards on the horizontal axis (pitch)

Rotate left/right (roll)

NB: if not locked by the camera up-vector.

Rotate the model on the vertical axis (yaw)

Note

  • In Panorama mode, use the 3D mouse as a joystick to rotate and zoom the view.

  • In Fly mode, use the 3D mouse as a joystick to navigate in the 3D scene. You can change the speed with G and H shortcut keys.

  • 3D mouse shortcuts, if available on your mouse:
